01 / WORKFLOW

From the architect’s model
to agreed project data.

One workflow for two roles. Specialists contribute requirements while architects retain control of the model.

01SPECIALIST / BROWSER

Specify

Open an IFC, find elements and assign the required properties. Return an enriched IFC or a BCF containing proposals and a change report.

IFC → requirements
02ARCHITECT / REVIT

Review

See original, current and proposed values side by side. Identify new information, already-applied changes and conflicts that require a decision.

Source → model → proposal

Apply

Choose values to write into existing element parameters. Unselected proposals leave the model unchanged. The update can be reverted with Revit Undo.

03 / CHANGE CONTROL

Every proposal
has a context.

A value difference alone is not enough. ModelInput also considers the data in the IFC originally shared with the specialist.

04 / COLLABORATION
FOR SPECIALISTS

Requirements attached to model elements.

Work with IFC without creating your own Revit model. Select elements, enrich their data and return proposals to the architect.

  • Element selection and property inspection
  • Property editing with the appropriate IFC datatype
  • IFC or BCF with a change report
FOR ARCHITECTS

Control of project information.

Review proposals before applying them. Check conflicts and transfer selected values to existing parameters in your Revit model.

  • Source, model and proposal comparison
  • Separate Compare and Update commands
  • Selected-value updates and Revit Undo
05 / GET STARTED

Open an IFC.
Connect the data to your project.

Use the editor to enrich properties and prepare proposals. Use the Revit plugin to compare the data and apply selected values.

ModelInput plugin

Compare and update properties in existing native Revit instance parameters.

Revit 2024 · 0.5.4.0 · free test candidateDownload plugin
Prepare the plugin
  1. Download the installer package and extract the ZIP.
  2. Close Revit, open ModelInput.Setup.exe, select the Revit year and Install.
  3. Start Revit. ModelInput is under Add-Ins → External Tools. The guide explains required parameters and uninstallation.
Current version scope

Updates require existing compatible instance parameters. This version does not create parameters, write to types or linked models, or compare geometry changes. BCF exchange uses a compatible IFC Snippet.
